James Caan asked me to join the Board of Start-up Loans last year which I did, and have seen this incredible program launch - from the ground up. Lord Young has been the main driver in government, and we now have more than 500 loans made/granted.
The idea of the government being in the loans business is not one that I would have had naturally. However, the idea that young would be entrepreneurs are given a loan - not a grant - that they must pay back - which establishes them as an income generator in society, paying taxes, increasing the country's GDP - is one that on reflection appeals.
Entrepreneur Country has now gotten into the game, and we are now open for business to bring Start-up Loans to the under 30's of England.
